Ok I have looked and looked all over the web and I can't seem to find a way to fix my problem.

I have a Intel 21140-Based PCI Fast Ethernet (Generic) in my pc and I cannot seem to get the darn thing to connect to the trackers and such. I have tried different BitTorrent clients but they all seem to have the same problem. Here is what BitLord tells me:

Default tracker optimization rules file loaded.
IP rules file: ipfilter.dat loaded, 0 entries.
Start Listening at TCP Port:19972
Start Listening at UDP Port:19972
Windows XP ICF Status: Firewall port is opened.
Update Local IP: 192.168.100.100
Windows XP ICS Status: cannot find working ICS.
Windows XP UPnP Status: device not found!

Ok, since everyone is still very concerned about the (error) message. I try to add a bit more. Hope can help.

It shows "UPnP Status: device not found", but it doesn't mean it's not working.

Reason?
From my previous reply, I had the same error messages since 0.52 and later, so I thought if UPnP wasn't working, maybe I should just disable it.

I did, and ICS wasn't working, and ICS and UPnP both showed me errors. I can't recall the errors, but they're different... something like "can't access", "failed"...

More importantly, as I mentioned about "Remote" users in my previous reply, I saw NONE this time.

Then, I enabled UPnP again, I got "cannot find working ICS" and "device not found" back in the log, but everything goes fine since... "Remote" users are back!

(I didn't bother to wait and compare the speeds though.)

So, I think I can conclude that regardless of "device not found", UPnP is actually functioning, and hence ICS is somehow working too.

Another reason is that I got ICS and UPnP working in the log with 0.51 (UPnP status: PortMapping Added.) (Something like that, I can't recall the exact log.). I didn't change any settings in the router or Windows when I switched to 0.52. But, it showed ICS and UPnP working in the log in 0.51, but otherwise in 0.52 and later.

I'm confused too.
But, I just want to point out that if you setup the router well, do the portmapping and can download at a satisfactory speed, then maybe you shouldn't be too annoyed about the log.

That's only my experience, I'm not sure it works for anyone.
Please correct if wrong.

for the love me i can't remember the cite its from

in the case that your UPns is actually not activated....

ICS~Internet Connection Sharing

UPnp~Universal Plug and Play

what is mostly likely causing your issue is that UPns is not enabled on your network
what router do you have?

Open your browser, and in the Address bar, type the following IP address: http://192.168.1.1 (or 192.168.1.0)

you will be prompted for a user name and password, enter those in

depending on your router you maybe able to enable UPnP there (most probably)

so once again router brand and version please!

questions, comments, results?

I finally have a clue what is going on but I have another problem. The default username isn't admin and the password isn't admin or 1234 I looked to see if there was any way to find this out but I couldn't find anything. I guess I'll keep looking and I hope I don't have to reset my router.

thats ok at one point in time you must have created this user name and password, you just have to find where you put it!!!
maybe you stored it with your WEP/WAP key?

I figured out my network card is a Kingston KNE100FX and that is about all I know. I'm still looking for the username and password. If I can't find it I may just reset the darn thing. Of course if I do that I'll have to learn how to do all that.

as i said before you can reset your network, but you'll need your password and user name
OR
IF your lucky they'll be a reset bottom/side/back on the back of your wireless router (NOT ADAPTER), if you hit that or hold it down your network will go back to the factory settings (which means no password, wep/WAP key, and such)

you can then reconfigure everything to your liking by following the steps in my previous posts;D

The more I try to figure this out the more I do not understand so let me just explain my setup.

My network adapter is connected to a little white box which has a sticker on the bottom saying Tranzeo Wireless Technologies then a bar code and then TR-SUR-001. The box thingy then is connected to a bigger box thingy that has a sticker which says "TR-SL2-15f 2.4Ghz Wireless Broadband Client" which picks up signal from a tower not to far away. The Company I get my Internet from set up all of this stuff and I don't know anything about it. I probably could have figured all of this stuff out if I just had cable or DSL but it is just some type of wireless. If you can still help I want to thank you for even paying attention to a newb like me. If I am missed something you said before I probably didn't understand it. Oh and by the way you have an awsome signiture.

The First thing the network card is connected to I found out is just a surge protector. The other thing I found out is a CPE (which i could've found out by looking on the surge protector.)

I couldn't see the image you had on your post but the Part that recieves the internet connection is indeed through radio signal. I had no idea that is was until i actually looked at the CPE.

so your connecting via dialup, a phone line into your computer (thought so as internet over radio only provides such service)

unfortunately downloading torrents with dialup is almost impossible, most ports wont even seed (let you download) to you, downloading torrents was created for broadband or cable, you need to get a cable/broadband internet subscription with your ISP (internet service provider), in addition download clients like bitcomet, bitlord might not run on the type of dial up you have!

and dont get it over radio:)

btw: at max your speeds over dialup will run to 3kbps (extremely slow, days to download a medium sized movie)

Maybe I misunderstood. The my network card is a LAN and not dial-up and unfortuantly the only choice I have is radio connection. I never thougth that torrent downloading would be this much of a pain. My highest download speed I have gotten is about 80kbps. I know that it is a Broadband connection. I thank you for your help but I guess I am just out of luck. I have looked everywhere and I can't find anything. I guess I'll just have to find things in another way. I deeply appriecate your help.

i have been digging around a few forums and it seems with who received there internet over radio torrents became impossible/extremly slow, some people said if they enabled "no listening mode" they could download but there speeds only reached 2kbps on torrents averaging 120kbps, sorry things look bleak...maybe somebody will come by this thread and save you....but in all truth its time to get a new ISP
