Hi,

I am still having a problem with my Toshiba HD-A3. When I press
stop on the remote and then play again. It starts from the begining
of the movie.

If I press pause and leave it on Pause too long it will not play again when
I press Play.

The only solution I have found so far is to press Menu, menu pops up and
press Pause that way. Then press play again and it will start to play where
it was. Makes me miss my OPPO.

My current Firmware Version says under Maintenance 1.3/1.1
Is there new firmware out there that I have missed or does anyone
know how to solve this problem. I also have the screen saver set to off.

It is hooked up to my Samsung 46" DLP HDTV . Any Advice Would be Great

Thanks..

This unfortunately is what happens when you play HD discs. It doesn't happen on SD discs. If you want to start where you left off, you have to bookmark it (check your manual).

"If I press pause and leave it on Pause too long it will not play again when I press Play."

Not sure why this is happening, but it is not a good idea to leave it on pause for extended lengths of time. You don't want burn in.

As for firmware, the newest is 2.0.

Remember, update the FW at your own risk. I've read on several other online forums that people have crippled their players after applying the 2.0 update.

Yep, I also read that if you use the 1080p/24fps, there was a problem with that firmware. I didn't update. I don't believe the A3 has that setting, so probably wouldn't apply to Ofield's. But again, update at your own risk.

Just a reminder that the 1080/24p issue with v2.0 applies only to HD DVDs encoded with AVC/MPEG-4 (e.g., Transformers and several other Paramount/DreamWorks titles). If you don't own any of these titles, then you will not notice any negative issues at all with v2.0

Wasn't there a 2.3 update which was the 24fps issue?

Yea, the HD-A30 and HD-A35 are the ones with 24fps output. The HD-A3 doesn't have the capability.

The 2.0 update was suppose to have applied fixes/improvements to network connectivity and HDMI/DVI handshakes. Faster load times and also addresses a unique playback error which affected a portion of discs.

Now, you have me all confused. Wasn't 2.3 firmware for Generation 1 players? See important notes:

This from AVS forum:

Btw. I had to register my A35 over the phone with Toshiba Canada as their link was dead. I was hoping they would alert owners by email when a new firmware was available.

Apparently some people are also reporting jaggies @ 720p with the 2.0 firmware.

Guess the old saying: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is good advice.

That's exactly why I always wait a few months before applying any FW update. I at least want to wait a while to see what other people's results are - wouldn't want to brick my player!
