Hi

I have a general question about digital clocks and where/how they travel.I have various types of equipment with SPDIF phono plug SPDIF optical and ADAT optical connections.

I have noticed that my ADAT inputs don't need an extra clock cable (BNC) but the SPDIF inputs do. Is this always the case i.e.is it correct to say that all ADAT optical outputs carry the clock information and SPDIF phono outputs do not, or is it that some inputs cannot read the clock?

What about SPDIF optical?

Any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
