I was downloading a file via torrent (bittorrent) and just received an error message saying;
"Error: The requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation".

This is the second instance I've experienced this message, but not consecutive. The file is 82.2% complete (3666/4460 mb).

Has anyone come across this?

Are you downloading the file to a FAT32 drive?
FAT32 has a file size limitation of just under 4GB.

I just thought about that... but no. The 4.6 gb file I'm downloadng is to my local 320gb drive.

I am however downloading a different file to a thumb drive at the same time, could that be conflicting?

I found this thread at the BitTorrent forum where people were having this error in basically the same circumstances as you and a couple people (as well as the person in another thread that referred to this thread) found that disabling (or one person-lowering) caching disk writes and reads at advances preferences solved the issue.

I can't say, as this is the first time I have seen this without a FAT32 involved.

I followed the link you provided, it seems to be working. Thanks for the timely advice.

This happened about a week ago on a 8 gig file about 6 gigs in, I didn't even think to ask around, oh well... I'll try it again.
