Im looking to build my own NAS, I obviously want to take the cheapest route but still want to have quality gear. I would like it to be a total of about 2 terabytes. I would like to basically have it to put a bunch of movies and music on so it could be accesible to all the computers in my house. Any suggestions on what kind of setup would suit my needs would be appreciated, thanks

I use a Linux based file server that uses desktop PC components. It's not that cheap to do, but it certainly yields excellent results.
Go with a cheap PC case, basic single core CPU and around 1GB of RAM, but try and find a motherboard with plenty of S-ATA ports. Then grab four 500GB drives and set up file sharing over the network. To get decent speeds, get a cheap PCI Gigabit network card for your PC and use a CAT5E network cable between the two. You can use Windows or a Command line Linux OS like Ubuntu-Gutsy Gibbon as it's OS. Windows will be familiar, but Linux will offer better performance.
