I just purchased a Pioneer DVDr/rw writer. NO I am trying to back up my DVD's and it is not allowing me to copy them it is saying that there is an error message 28. IT says that some dvd's have a write protection on them. Is there any way around that?

Also I ripped an avi file to mpg and when I did so the mpg file had no sound tmpgenc and now there is no sound on the file.

Okay I have ripped my dvd with smartripper and have been able to figure out which five files are the movie. It is under 4.36 gb and it is a .vob file I have gotten ac3 encoder and tried to encode the files and when I tried to the Ac3 Encoder would not recognize the file type. What am I doing wrong.

Hey I understand I am a "newbie" but please answer my question personally. I just wanted to say that you guys have done a great job with this site. This site has tought me more in the two weeks that I have known about it then the entire time I went to CEI.
