Have you looked at the "Need to know" page on Virgin media broadband web page .
It said that 3% of us are using 90% of their broadband and the rest of their customers are having problems looking up their favouret porn site.
So they are throtteling this 3% to 1mb up and down between 5pm and 9pm
all this for a great price of £25 a month.
How can I find out if they are doing this to me as my Azureus is about on its back.

As far as I have seen, they appear to be limiting everyone during those time periods.

Virgin is listed at the Azureus wiki Bad ISPs (UK) page, with a suggested encryption Level 5.
Which means they are very tough on bittorrent.

See Avoid Traffic Shaping for info on the various levels of encryption.
I would suggest starting with Level 2 (image below)and working your way up as the higher levels do eliminate some possible peers/seeds.



You might also want to look at the Speed Scheduler Plugin for Azureus to set down/up loads to run outside that time period.
