hi i have a hp pavilion a1619.uk i have had it for a year but i went on it one morning and it worked fine then i turned it off and came back a hour later turned it on but the screen never came on i tested it with a different monitor still nothing i tested the monitor on a different pc and it worked. I thought it could be the graphics card.
The graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 7500 LE.

Sounds like you have sussed it.

If you have tested the graphics card and got no result then looks like you will need a new one.

Just to be on the safe side try the graphics card in another machine to make sure you dont have problems with the motherboard.

Let us know how you get on.

that videocard is intergated into the motherboard so you can't pull it out & test it on another pc. reseat all cards, ram & cables to see if that clears the problem. clear the cmos as have found that to work sometimes on a stubborn system. try another psu.

I took out the graphics card and booted up the computer and it worked so i got a new graphics card the nvidia geforce 8500 gt but i cant run the monitor through it is this normal?
Then i put the disk in and its a disk for the 6000 series.

beccajay, does that videocard need a power connector from the psu & does your psu match the power requirements for that videocard? remove those links out of your sig ASAP as per forum rules above.

as far as i know my computer should work fine with the card but its doing the same as my old one so it could be my motherboard.

might not be the motherboard as can be caused by other things such as a bad psu.

i just did some looking round the internet and i need to reset my bios and card would work but i need a new psu to get the right amount of power. the minimum is 400W (with 12V current rating of26A)
Can anyone tell me where to get one?

no as it has +12V - 17A but you need +12V - 26A

that is just an adapter from 1 type of connector to another type. it doesn't solve the problem of not enough amperage.
