i put the ff7 eboot on my psp and everything works smoothly until i try to start a new game and all i get is a black screen.
i realize i probably need a popsloader, but is there one for 3.9?
and if so, would someone mind telling me exactly how to install it?
i've read guides but some of them are reeally confusing

well...i didn't enable my popsloader properly...i'm not sure exactly what i did wrong before, but it wouldn't show up in recovery mode. however, i decided to delete the wordpad file in the popsloader folder and re-enter what was in it, just to see what would happen. after i did that, popsloader showed up under "plugins" in recovery mode. once i enabled it, i could choose what version i wanted when i started up the game. Final Fantasy 8 crashed repeatedly on a boss battle, however, so i replaced it with Final Fantasy 7, which has run very nicely.

Having the same problem... Try to start a new game and it just turns black....

Can you tell me what poploader did you use when starting the game up??
