I have recently acquired a lot of movies from blockbusters 5 for 15 bin and most of them have no cases I have a pretty big collection of movies
rounding 1500 I love to collect them but the problem I am having is I thought i would be easy to get online and buy the actual cases however it's not quite as easy as I thought is there anyone that knows of a site or company that does that so I can buy them

The Bigfooted Master of all that is valuable in the green temple of Free has spoken. Sometimes, just asking is all you need to do at the local BlockBuster store. Often times they will double bag them for you if they do indeed "toss them out". The cases do wonders to hold Video disks of the kid's musicals and performances for the in-laws if you get my drift.

Cincyrob runs a Buy here/Pay here ,used dvd case business. Show him a paycheck, and you can make small weekly payments.
He also runs a quick, advanced check cashing business: Buy some of his cases, write him a check+ a little extra booty. He'll hold that check for a week and then cash it. If it bounces,he sends BIGTOXY69 to do the dirty work.

It's the dumpster diving crew!
What's up fellas?
Got to agree here. Blockbuster dumpsters are great places to hit.
Just watch out for getting in with Cincyrob's payment plan. BIGTOXY can be...ahem...persuasive.

I don't understand this whole blockbuster thing... they throw there old cases away? I would think all the DVDs just ship in spindles or something else more economical since it's going to rental store.

yeah that's pretty stupid of BB, they should tell suppliers to just ship in spindles to save money and space. but good for us I guess.

cincyrob - Yeah seems silly to me to but it keep us all in free Dvd cases so I ain't complaining ! Personally I like the locking ones best ! { like the ones Blockbuster rents them out in ! The seem extra Heavy Duty and solid ! Some of the non-locking ones that they discard are a little flimsy !Other than that ! I like the ever so popular {BOOGER Green} ones and The Playstation Kind that a a Space for your memory card inside too! Those seem very solid ! What's really important is how good the DVD retaining mechanism/lock button works ! because if it don't your Dvd will come loose and Roll around inside the case and scratch up your disc bad news ! The ones in the Blockbuster lock type cases generally work well IMHO anyways . Some of the simpler designed cases {read Cheap ones here ) don't retain the disc as well with the consequences I mentioned earlier !!!!!!!!!- In fact I have to return a Copy of Moonstruck to Big lots because of that very reason !The Disc disloged from the lock button and shifted all around scratching the dvd all around the spindle hole !not to mention that the lip of the case chipped when it was opened by hand ! When I return this one I'm going to transfer it to a Good Locking type case right Thar! in the parking lot to make sure it 's okay from there on ! Well Good Luck and happy Diving CHeers ALL!!!!!!!!!

FYI - went to Big lots & returned the Moonstruck DVD with no problem ! Now that's how I like to do bussiness!!!, They had one more copy of that Left so I grabbed it ! and swapped it out !!! - I also picked up Iron Eagle , Into the Sun ,& High school HIGH so They did'nt lose anything replacing the bad copy of Moonstruck !!!. I have to put a few more DVD racks together soon Because since I got DVD Profiler all my DVD's tend to end up in the sQuatch Cave/Computer room and they're starting to take over LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I supposed I'll Add That to my Honey-Do List LOL!!!!!!!!! - And why is it That whenever your wife, girlfriend , ect.. wants to watch a dvd it's always the very one you can't find ?????????- Good luck, Happy Burning & Dive safe y'all

What kind of racks you use bigtoxy?
I custom made mine. They used to be 4 tiers and about 2.5' wide. The last one I made,I doubled it to 9 rows,6' tall and same width.
All using 2" pine slats, mini bisquit joints, dowel rods, along with a ton of clamps.

saugmon- Whatever I can get on sale That's halfway stable - I've got a Couple I bought at big lots some time back for $15.00 apiece that I need to put together I think they are 4 tiers high and hold 132 dvd's in standard cases ? I could be more exact but they are in the other room right Now ! I also picked up 3 racks made by Saunders { They are The Big time Knockdown/ assemble it yourself furniture MFR.) And beleive it or not I found them at a Save -A-lot Grocery Store !!!! They were like $20.00 each and I saw the same units for 79.00 @ big lots earlier ! I bought 3 that they had . These Hold 160 DVD's each .I still have to put them together too LOL!!! Now if I can only find my cordless Drill LOL!!!!! Good Luck buddy & Keep the faith !!!!!

7' high,28 1/4" wide. Wide enough for 40 full size cases and a couple inches of empty space per tier to wiggle them out. The tiers need another inch or 2 more of separation. I'd hate to try it with just a drill.
1/2" dowell rods,3 per tier-That's the major cost.
1 7' of 12" pine-around $7.Oak looks very nice.
2 1/4" slats off entire board.
4 will be used for outside, and whatever left over for the center brackets.
Get too wide, then dowells will sag from the weight.
After cutting all slats, run them through jointer for all edges. I use jigs to align the center brackets. I counter sink the 1/2" forstner bits holes so they don't go all way through the slats/center brackets, that way no buttons/plugs are needed.
Hardest part is keeping it straight, putting it together glueing, clamp it everywhere. Then after the ends are dried, sand enter outer frame and run it through table router for a nice smooth edges on all but the back. Then the fun part of putting the dowells in with a rubber mallet and glue. No screws,no buttons-but a 100% wood rack.
Once you get the jigs set up to properly to drill the brackets and the side slats,it's easy. Mini bisquit joints make it stronger and helps immensely to line everything up.
I used to sell the smaller ones-4 tier units for VHS tapes-for $15 each at craft sales and coworkers.Just had to spread them further apart for dvd case storage.
My garage should be finished this week.My wood tools have been in storage for over 3 years and I plan on working on some dvd racks and cornhole games..

Saugmon - Good thing I know what Corn Hole games are Or I would be Worried about you right Now Lol! JK ! Well It's great that some of us are Handy with Wood ! I'm not one of them & I've already Got the racks just not assembled ! I suppose I'll Have to get off My A&& sooner than later though ! I tallied up the racks capacity last night & I think it came to 744 Std. Size DVD cases ! with all 5 racks put together ! That should hold me for awhile ? I could go Slimline cases and nearly double that but The wife says she can't read the spine on those as good so what can I do ? besides I already have sooo many extra Cases From Diving LOL! Besides I still have 1 tier of a rack in the living room that I can clear of old Home-recorded Vhs tapes and CDS's so I found my Cordless Drill . I got the battery all Charged up & raring to go so wish me Luck - Good luck , Happy Fishing , safe Diving & beware of the one that got away !!!!!!Ciao!!

monster33- cases or Covers ? I've bought a few ( Previously Viewed)= Used Dvd movies recently from Blockbuster and they all had the original Cover art & The Blockbuster Rental style locking DVD cases ! The only ones I've seen that did'nt have Cover art were in the Milky/Cloudy white -translucent cases and they did'nt have many of those ! If you need the Cases themselves follow the sage advice of the previous members and either ask them at Blockbuster or just dumpster dive for them !and If it's the Cover art( Images -jpegs ) you require you can check out the links saugmon posted here additionaly although it's rare sometimes you can have trouble finding obscure titles covers ! You can use DVD Profiler - if you have it a Program that allows you to catalog your collection & You can Preview the cover your missing and copy it from there well Front and back you'll have to make the spine yourself But it does work ! well Good luck & happy hunting !!!
