I recently got a modded Xbox, the one that plays burnt games. I keep getting a code 7 error. I want to replace the old harddrive with a 80 gb seagate one that I have but have no idee on how to do this.can somebody please enlighten me on this situation. thanks.
Well let me start by saying ....it's not going to be easy ...it was more nerve racking that anything case i never knew if it was going to work again after i booted it up after the restart . But what you have to do in a nut shell is 1.unlock the hdd 2.retrive all the information that you see on it ( should be in your P.C. to do this ) that includes EVERYTHING now i do this step just for a backup but if you dont want a backup then go ahead with your fav software to create a ghost of the drive ( norton ghost works good ) 3.then get new drive put ghost on it 4.now you have to lock the drive again or the xbox will know that this is not it's original hdd ......now you have to have atleast a softmod to re-allocate the space that you added because eventhough it has a bigger hdd you cloned it so as fas as it's concerned it still has the factory 8-GIG hdd . Now you can FTP into it aswell and get the files , but take extra care to the EEPROM.BIN file thats in the E:/ drive ....that holds the hdd key that you might need depending on the tools you use to do this i just got creative when i did it found my own ways........now if you want PM me and ill get into a little more detail for you and i have the software if needed
I have got yno idea what type of mod is in it. I got the Xbox from a buddy. yesterday i opened it up and cleaned up the laser and mirror and none it seems to work. The HD has already been replaced with a Seagate 20gb, that i didn't know about.
Okay, since you opened it up. Were the screws already accessable? Is there a chip installed either over the eeprom chip or near it. Does it load a different BIOS or shows a different BIOS from your modified dash. If your chipped, then HDD replacement is a breaze. No image is required, no eeprom, no locking. Just downlad AID 4.10 and burn it to a disk, put your new HDD in. Power up the box, install the AID disk and build your HDD, easy as pie.
when the xbox comes on, it loads like it would out of the box. if i hold the power button for like 2 seconds, the "xbox" logo turns blue then i put in a burnt game and it plays with no problem. I have no idea what to look for or where for the chip. i was always a Playstation person until recently.
Here go to this site and see the pdf doc...there's a mod chip sitting on to of an xbox ......does this look like anything that is under you dvd drive ? because if so you have a mod chip if not then its a soft mod (software mod).
