Hello and thanks in advance;

I'm currently using Windows XP Pro SP2 and have had no problems with my system up to now, but writing dual layer DVDs has been hit-or-miss lately, even with Verbatim media. While trying to change the book type on ImgBurn, it gives me the nonsensical 'no additional sense information' error, so that's become a frustration for me.

After reading a few other threads I thought the best thing to do might be to update the firmware of the drive, which is an HP dvd writer 940d with Lightscribe. I can't find any other information about it honestly, except that it might be a rebadged Lite-On (unconfirmed), and I can't find anything at HP's actual site, which makes me believe more and more that it might be rebadged from LiteOn.

If anyone could help point me in the direction of a firmware update or even a way to make it a bit better I'd be most grateful. I'll be happy to give any further information if necessary.
