Daytek 950-S Can't use edit functions

I finally got my Daytek 950-S to work after getting the remote control from Daytek but I've run into another problem, the inability of the machine to edit a program recorded on the HDD or DVD+-R/RW. The function seems to be completely disabled in this unit but the functions are still in the menu as they are in the Liteon 5045. The manual for the 950 doesn't mention the function at all. I'm figuring it was left out by design by Daytek (for some unfathomable reason). I have no idea if it was restored in the 950-T. Any help would be appreciated. I can of course pull the drive and copy the contents to my computer for further processing but it would be easier in some cases to just split the files and copy them to DVD Rewriteables.
