So you need to be able to lock the drive if you want to replace the stock drive and upgrade am I right?

Since your in the Hardware Boot Discussion section then I can assume you have a chipped box. Yes you have to lock it, but it is easier, because AID 4.10 can do it all for you without ftping an image building an ISO etc., etc. Just swap it format and install it. Alot of these FAQs are for softmodding, which works around the eeprom/bios. With a chip you install a different bios, that is real user friendly. If you don't no where to get AID 4.10, go here:

As a P.S. I don't think you actually have to lock the drive if you have a chip installed.
