i have a psp with CFW 3.90 m33-2. i tried copying a psx eboot.pbp game in the m0:/psp/game folder and the game works even without popsloader. is this normal? do i have to have popsloader v2 installed when playing psx games?

p.s. what is the difference between popsloader and popstation?
do i need the key.bin files to play psx games?

Popsloader: Loads the PSX games on the PSP
Popstation: Creates the EBOOTS on your PC

anyway you can play games without the popsloader plugin, all it does is add compatibility. also the keys.bin is not needed on your psp memory stick anymore

i think it orginally had something to do with security sony put on the popsloader but with changes made by dark-alex keys.bin is now obsolete.

ahh.. so all i need to is to convert my psx iso to an eboot using popstationgui which produces also the key.bin file, and then transfer to my mem stick the eboot only, correct?

well transfer the folder with the eboot in it to the GAME folder. you can delete the keys.bin if you want although i think it still works with it inluded, its just not needed. your choice :)

lol you are too i hadnt noticed :) anyway now you will need to replace a file in flash0. do you have a psp fat or slim? heres the instructions from dark-alex .
Originally posted by Dark-Alex:
To install the PRX, Dark AleX gave these instructions: "Try this prx (systemctrl.prx for the phat, systemctrl_02g.prx for the slim), replacing the one of the flash0 kd folder, and tell me if it works after this."

Dark Alex also gave this warning: "By using this prx's you won't be able to init the PSP without a memory stick inserted. I would fix that in a formal release, but I need to know first if the trick is working."
if you find them a bit complicated ill walk you through what you have to do

another one, lol! sorry for being noob. is PopStationGUI capable of converting multi-discs PSX games? i heard that some people are having problems continuing their game from one disc to another. what do they mean by altering the game signature of the PSX iso file?

ok. please note these instructions are for XP. if you have another OS tell me.
1. Enter Recovery Mode on your PSP. do this by holding down the R button when you start your psp.
2. Navigate down to 'Advanced' then plug a USB cable into your PSP and your computer.
3. Select 'Toggle USB (flash0) on your PSP then turn to your PC.
4. Open up the removeable drive on your PSP that is flash0. up the top of your screen select Tools then Folder Options. Go to the view tab then check the circle that says Show Hidden Files and Folders, and uncheck the box that says Hide Protected Operating System Files.
5. Now before i tell you anything else i need to know whether you have a psp slim or an old psp fat?

edit: for the PSPTube app just place the files in GAME150 (you need the 1.50 patch installed on your PSP)

edit2: for multi-disc PSX eboots have a look at this http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=89119

okay well continued instructions:

5. Rename the file systemctrl_02g.prx to systemctrl.prx and copy it to the kd folder in your flash0 and overwrite the file that is already there.

for PSPTube try copying it to the GAME390 folder and see if it works.

ahh.. for my future questions which i will just ask from you now, lol. here are the questions:

1.) there are many psx to psp converters around the web, which one is the best? the one in the link you gave me has the psx2psp postation gui software. others are popstationgui,PyPps v0.1b, etc. which one of these is the best? and if im right, the multi-disc popsloader support is embedded in the CFW 3.80 m33 and above, correct?

2.)whem im usb charging then i go to the battery information under system settings, it seems that the message there is "in use" not "charging", but take note that the orange light still appears.

3.)what stuck pixel software did you use? so far, i've encountered three softwares alreay done by different programmers.

4.)what does the "hard reset on homebrew" do, will you recommend me to enable this?

5.)how about the plain modules on the advanced menu of the recovery mode, did you enable it? what does this do?

6.)after quitting internet browser, the vsh menu doesn't show up, so what i do is to open any folder in the xmb and surprisingly the vsh menu is fixed again, is this normal?

another thing, there are many files regarding the popsloader from the site of DAX. these are the files:

*PopsLoader*
>> 3.80 M33 Popsloader. (Release)(Version 2)
>> Multidisc. (First Version) (Bugfix)
>> M33Popsloader. (First Version) (Last Update)
>> Plugin to load 3.02 POPS on 3.03 OE. (Release)
>> Plugin to load ANY POPS on 3.10 and next OE's. (Release)

what i used only is the 3.80 m33 popsloader v2, should i also install the multidisc or is it embedded in 3.90 m33-2? how about the two plugins, what are those?

1. Well I use PSX2PSP which I like the most. They all have a pretty similar feature set so just pick one you like :) Im pretty sure multi-disc popsloader is not embedded use a combination of the two you mentioned.

2.Im not sure about the USB Charging as I do not have a slim. However when the orange light is on leave your PSP alone for a little while and se if the battery percentage goes up.

3. I just googled for 'pixel fixer video for PSP' i forget exactly what one i used but they're all pretty much the same.

4. The 'Hard Reset on Homebrew'function restarts your psp before your homebrew loads. this is not really neccessicary but for some homebrew it may add compatibility. I reccommend you dont enable this function as it adds heaps to startup times for homebrew

5. Im not sure what this function does exactly but i do know that it extends compatibility for some iso's

6.)No this is not normal and im not sure how to fix it. Try resetting your settings.

Edit: I Just Realised your on 3.90 m33 lol. the 3.80 patch might damage the firmware slightly. if you have already applied it because of my mistake just leave it but if you havent DONT APPLY IT sorry for caps but its kinda important :)

this is the description i got from dl.qj.net for the 8gb ms support for popsloader 3.80.:

File Description
The release of CFW 3.90 M33 offered support for memory sticks larger than 4 GB. However, users have found an that Popsloader 3.80 M33 has an incompatibility issue with Sony's 8GB memory stick. Those of you who experienced this issue can download this prx released by Dark AleX to fix the issue

so this means that it is really designed for cfw 3.90 m33-2 ryt?

are you sure about this? from my understanding, 3.90 m33-2 already has support for the 8gb memory sticks considering normal use. but when used with popsloader 3.80 which is the latest version installed it a psp, there seems to be compatibility issues using it. am i right? don't get me wrong. just explaining :))
