Hello all, I keep getting a Power Calibration Error when using Nero 7 Ultra Edition. This happens when it starts to burn the second layer of a dual layer disk. The first layer burns fine. Everything was fine (including the media - Memorex DVD+R DL) before I had to replace my DVD drive (the old one would not eject anymore. I first replaced it with LITEON 18X DVD Writer but changed that to a Plextor DVD Writer when this error showed up. It is doing the same thing with the Plextor. I am confident the Media is good because It was just fine in the old one and I have had to throw away 9 blank disks so far. ANy ideas?

Just 2 things, Nero isnt the best app to use for d/l burning and Memorex is a horrible brand of disc and is more than likely why it failed. I only recommend Verbatim when it comes to any form of disc.

You can post a failed Nero history log for us to examine though

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory

The drive is internal, not USB. I have updated the firmware for the Plextor, same results.

Power Calibration error solutionsTry another brand of DVD-/+R or DVD-/+RW media. This is the most common cause of OPC errors.
Update the firmware of your recorder. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
Check your power connectors, loose connections do occur. Don't share power with other devices.
It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, Check the USB cable
and connections.
Try different configurations, such as taking the DVD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master. Clean or have your DVD burner serviced. There are cleaning kits available. Sometimes just a gentle appplication of canned air can remove dust blocking the laser.
Replace the DVD burner.

Nothing here to see, move along folks.
