Hi there, i need a second opinion on which of these two products i should get.

This one is a portable hard drive (12GB) and costs £17.99:

I would have gone for this however i have never had a portable hard drive before, also would a usb flash be much faster than this.

Or this, 8(GB)high speed flash which is £22:
http://amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000NHNNS...&pf_rd_i=468294

As mentioned i would have gone for the hard drive (more memory, cheaper) however i dont no much about their data transfer speed and they are not as robustness.

Thank you.

Do you need the storage more than the manuaverablilty?

If you want the storage, then the had drive is the best choice, but remember that you have to place the hard drive on the table plug in the cable transfer you data, unplug the hardrive box it up an carry it with you.

But...

If you have the memory stick, you take it out your pocket plug it straight into the pc via usb. transfer your data (Safely remove usb devices, this is important as if not done may cause corruption to data.) unplug the memory stick an put it back in your pocket... Done.

So now all you have to think of is what YOU want. storage OR easy use.

I know the memory stick costs a bit more, but its so easy to use that you are basicly paying them for that ease.

Its the difference between buying uncooked chicked and cooked chicken. Precooked chicken is sooo easy, you get home put it on a plate an there you go. but having to go home an cook the chicken is like to much hard work sometimes. (lol, dont ask why the chickens. just thought it would explain a bit better. lol)

I havn't found using a hard drive to be any faster than a memory stick. and if there is then the difference probably wouldn't be noticable anyway.

Hope this helps. And let me know what you have decided to buy.

USB hard drives are significantly faster than USB Flash drives in most cases, and I doubt that one's an exception.

If it was a notebook hard drive it wouldn't require a power supply dragging around, as long as it's a self-built USB2.0 enclosure. I use a few USB2.0 2.5" enclosures with 80GB hard drives, haven't got around to getting a 120GB to put in there as the 80GB's are are a nice size and the bonus is that they don't need any external power so are a (huge capacity) glorified USB stick
