My old panasonic is very sensitive and I need an upgrade.

Was thinking Sony and I read in a review that they say everything from satellite is copyright protected and will not let you record it (never got that with my panasonics)

Is this something I need to worry about with other new DVD recorders?

thanks

Most new recorders will not let you make recordings from PPV and several movie channels. Some old units would allow you to record anything by ignoring stop copy flags in the broadcasts. Sadly, I don't believe anyone makes one of those anymore. Some companies have taken to hacking the machines or using "service remotes" to access features normally unavailable in the machines (like changing the unit's region so it will play discs from other countries) but that is about it....
