Hi =)

I am using Nero 7 (which I download the latest updates for yesterday). I want to create a mixed-media DVD, but cannot find an option to do so. I have created a movie using Windows Movie Maker and want to put that along with folders with various songs and pictures on the DVD. By doing this, my hope is that someone could watch the movie either in a DVD player or on a PC, and also access the added files via a PC.

I created the DVD using the "Create DVD-Video" option. I was able to pull my movie file with no issues. I went through all the menu options that I found. I tried to add my other files (.jpg & .wav) and was told they were invalid formats. After I finished all the steps, it burned the DVD, which appears to play correctly. But, I never found an option to add non-movie type files. Based on other research I have done, this should be possible, but I'm obviously missing the step somewhere.

I have not yet tried to go back to the DVD and add the additional files using the data DVD creation option. Maybe it's that simple.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

if you want a menu link to the extra pictures i dont think its possible

if i wanted what you want i would use a pc autorun app for pic/wav links

make the video as you did then add the stuff made by autorun app (ignore error in nero)

as long as files not same name should be good... and pc will autorun a GUI interface like a game or software with a window that loads with links on it etc....

as to a autorun sort of app (google is your friend)

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

No, I don't need that. When the disk is in a DVD player, I want it to appear as a normal movie - standard movie chapters, with no reference to the extras. But then when putting the disk in a PC, I'd like the user to be able to view/use the extra music/picture files just as they would on a PC hard drive.

Your suggestion does have me a bit intrigued though. It sounds like it would make the extras very easy to find for someone who is not very PC literate. Would the AutoRun app interfere with the DVD functionality in a DVD player?

Looking at the provided link, it appears to me that AutoRun is an app to access the extra files....not a app that allows me to add the extra files to the same DVD. Is that the case?

adding an extra foler i think shouldnt be a problem, a little trial and error and maybe 1 wasted disc, but to be honest i think it will work AOK!

yes you make your autorun setup on pc then place all on cd or dvd, i have had a play with this version very easy to use and work out, you add links to files, its been a while but basically that...

yes it will make it easy to access the files...

but yes autorun is the same thing as just having all the stuff in folders beit HD or DVD with the added window in front of you with easy find click links...

make your dvd-video as normal then in the same nero window add the files from autorun app like autorun.ini and yours to the disc same as what the app made on pc...

sounds alot but easy really

or just bung the files in a folder on dvd project in nero same thing but will have to use explore from dvd drive when inserting to pc (also movie may try to play) if autorun is enabled on pc dont forget...

Nero 7 ultra edition enhanced. HELP PLEASE!! I am new at this and i have spent hours trying to make a movie from trip photos. I have been successful in importing my photos and putting in transitions. However, I just can not figure out how to add audio music to my movie and how to have inserts that describe a set of photos. If someone could walk me throught this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@Izellah

Nero Recode will allow you to recode a DVD and add data files to your disc.

Thanks cyprusrom, I'll definitely give Recode a look and test it out.

So far, from playing around a bit and mix-and-matching from some of the guides here, I *think* I might have discovered a solution.

I started with Nero Vision 4 - imported the video, did all the menu set-ups, etc, but then wrote it to the hard drive instead of the DVD, which created all the DVD files in a VIDEO_TS folder on the hard drive. Next, I started the Burning Rom and selected the DVD-Video option. There, I was able to add all the just created files to the VIDEO_TS folder. Additionally, I was able to create new folders, which let me add my data files. Due to time restrictions, I have not yet tried to burn the DVD like this to see how it turns out.

Looking at the screen shot from cyprusrom, it seems Recode would require a similar process. Because I'm coming from a Windows Movie Maker file, I think I have to write the movie somewhere first, so that I get the conversion to the appropriate DVD files. But then it appears that here I could add all the files I want. I'll try it soon!
