Hi i noticed that there are a lot of things, r4 cyclo m3 ect that you can play ds backups on or whatever you call those. which one is the best one to buy?

Depends on what your needs are. Are you just after NDS gaming?

The M3DS Real is probably going to be your most feature packed option. With the expansion it has the ability to load GBA ROMS and the slot-1 card can boot NDS ROMS, homebrew, videos, etc.

You can do this with the M3DS Simply or R4 also. Though you will need to buy the EZ Flash 3 in 1 expansion card in addition to the M3DS Simply or R4.

i was looking at the cyclo thing at that seems to be a lot less confusing than those other two, can that play gba games? O and do you need more than one thing for the r4 or the m3 because those look confusing with all the stuff it comes with

Did some research and it looks like the CycloDS Evolution cart also needs a slot-2 card to play GBA ROMS. You will need either the CycloDS mini or micro (slot-2 cards). These are the equivalent of the EZ Flash 3 in 1.

If you go with the M3DSS or R4 you will only need the EZ Flash 3 in 1 if you plan on playing GBA ROMS. Same with the CycloDS, you will need 2 carts either way you go.
