I ripped a Blueray movie to my hard drive and attempted to playback with PowerDVD7. The movie plays as I have sound coming through the speakers, but no video. I am using an ATI HD3850 connected via HDMI to HDTV. I tested a friend's Nvidia 8500GT and the video plays flawlessly. I have updated to the latest ATI drivers and still cannot get it to work. Any suggestions?

I contacted ATI support about the issue and they suggested that I needed an m2ts codec. This doesn't make sense to me as I am able to play blue-ray movies with my BD-Rom using PowerDVD 7. Anyone have any ideas?

What version of PDVD7 are you using?

I've read somewhere that you need version 7.3.3319a or earlier. The later releases disbled the playing of BD movies ripped to the hard drive.

Version 7.3. When I installed my friend's Nvidia card it worked fine. This version of PowerDVD does allow playback from the hard drive by browsing to the folder where the files are stored. It's just when my ATI card is installed that I have the problem with the black screen during playback. I have working audio, even though I can't see anything.

OK. I may have drilled the problem down a bit. I was originally having this problem in Vista, so I just installed XP Pro instead. I now am able to see video during MPEG-2 playback, but whenever MPEG-4 files start to play is when I lose the video. It is still playing with audio, just no video. I noticed this by displaying info during playback in PDVD. If anyone is watching this thread, please help!!
