A problem with my PS2 (modded) reading DVD-RW

I have a SCPH - 75001, It is modded, Matrix infinity ([firmware 1.54]real or fake i don't know),
I does not read Verbatim DVD-RW (2x certified),
I got that for a steeeeeep price, 4 pounds(Converted price),
Please help me with this issue, its buggin' me!!
It goes till the Matrix black and white screen and after that nothing!!!

Its NTSC

India is a Pal region but,
NTSC games are easily available in India

You sure mate?
my friend has a scph- 5xxxx (don't know which model no. but sure it starts with 5)Fat and his ps2 reads it fine

Well I'll be damned.

My fat ps2 v7 and slim ps2 v 14 does not read dvd-rw or dvd+rw.

If it works for you, more power to you. I'm not going to argue it.

Then just use DVD-Rs instead.
