low buffer?

when ever i try to burn sumthing onto a dvd or cd my buffer is always never full.... what could be the problem? it stays at like 20% and never reaches 100... and my max burn speed now for all media is about 2x. i know my burner can burn up to 8x with dvds so how come its so slow now?

Do you turn off everything else when you are doing the burning? Things like running music or surfing the internet or even running an anitvirus could result in low buffer.
