my PC case has an LED temperature monitor on the front and according to it the CPU (AMD Athlon 64x 6400+ Black Edition) is running 34c on idle but according to PC Wizard 2008 my CPU temp is 28c on idle. Which one do you think is more accurate?

bios says CPU temp is 46c and the system temp 31c, im not sure if i trust the bios too much though cuz it also says my system fans are running at 10 rpms lol

*edit* also PC wizard also has the temps of the both cores, core 1 is 45c and core 2 is 47c. PC wizard is also saying that my system fans are running at 10 rpms which idk whats up with that but o well the fans are running great

Is the system custom built? If so what motherboard does it have. Usually I would trust what the BIOS or Speedfan says but in your case I'm confused. Where does the sensor in your case lead to? I doubt its right on the processor.

yes it is custom built, the mobo it has is a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H. the sensor is in between 2 fins on the heatsink.

DDRgod, the sensor between the 2 fins are not giving you a true temp as it should be somewhat between the cpu & the heatsink but not actually between because it will cause an airgap.

from what the manual said, i was suppose to place the sensor in between 2 of the heatsink fins. it also said to apply some thermal paste to be more accurate but i dont have any extra at the moment and right now i cant buy ANYTHING cuz i owe my parents money and cant buy anything till i pay it all back =/
