I am having trouble streaming videos from my NAS (a Thecus N3200) to the playstation 3 using the media server provided in Nero 8

Basically, I have a drive that is mapped to a folder on my NAS where I keep all my videos.

After adding the network folder to the "Shared Directories" and starting the server I still couldn't see any of the videos contain in the folder.

I then copied a few of the videos locally and their folder to the list of shared ones and restarted the server.

The videos showed up as expected and I was able to stream them to the PS3.

What is the difference between a local and network drive? I tried mapping it with both the IP address as well as the UNC name ... still no joy.

Any suggestions?
