Final Fantasy Crisis core is out depending where you live.
I'm gonna tell you a little bit about it :)
Publisher: Square Enix, Inc.
Category: Role-playing
Ever since the title was first hinted of years ago, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core has been the one title that PSP owners have been clamoring for. And rightly so, considering that the original Final Fantasy VII is still one of the most popular and beloved video games ever released. However, the moment is finally upon us, as Crisis Core is finally hitting store shelves. No doubt many gamers may be a little surprised at just how different the game is from the original, but once they get over their initial shock, they will discover a great action-RPG that does justice to its predecessor. PSP owners, the wait is over, and Crisis Core is a blast.
As many of you already know, Crisis Core is a prequel that follows Zack, who FFVII fans will remember as Cloud?s former best friend. The game finds Zack as a 2nd rank SOLDIER performing missions and helping to find Genesis, a rogue SOLDIER who has been rallying people against Shinra?s cause. Along the way he?ll meet up with classic characters from FFVII lore, including Yuffie and, of course, Cloud and Sephiroth.
The gameplay is markedly different from the original Final Fantasy VII, but hey, this is a different game after all. The combat unfolds in real-time, with you having a full roster of action-oriented moves, including combo attacks, dodges, and blocks. However, you?ll also have special materia (for those that don?t remember, materia are small orbs that allow you to cast magic in the FFVII universe) that you?ll be able to use, effectively letting you cast spells or even do special melee attacks.
One of the key new elements in the game?s combat is the new slot-based special system, called the Digital Mind Wave system (DMW, for short). For each attack you perform or spell you cast, the slots will begin to roll, and if you can get them into a certain pattern or match up certain characters, you?ll get a special boost, granting you a special move or a health boost and so on.
The battles in Crisis Core are randomized, and do tend to get a little too frequent. Luckily, they move fairly quickly, so the break in pace shouldn?t be too much.
Score
Gameplay: 8/10
Graphics: 9.5/10
Sound: 9/10
Overall: 9/10
PSP: 5.00 M33-6

Im only playing the game because of the story line. Gameplay could be a little bit better. But all in all this is a must get for the PSP.

No, the English version has English audio and English subtitles. The Japanese version has Jap audio and Jap subs.
There is apparently, however, an "undub" available somewhere. Basically, the English version of the game, with the voices stripped out and replaced with the Japanese voices (but keeping the English subs).
Search Google for "d&t crisis core undub"
I don't know how complete it is, or whether it works at all. Worth a try though!

For once, i have to say, they've actually done a decent job of English voice-overs, usually theyre really sucky, but theyre fairly decent :D
I'm admitting this:
This is the first PSP game i don't wanna put down.
I used to be obsessed with Final Fantasy games, then after XII, i went off them. Even FFX seemed boring :O
But after playing this, i can safely say i've found my love for them again. It appears Squeenix have regained support by not producing another same-same, boring combatted, rubbish-storylined, heavily critisised FF game (FFXII)
It's truely incredible how they fitted this onto one tiny UMD Disk. The combat i think is excellent, the music is perfect, graphics are unmatched as of yet (maybe GOW is just about in the same league), the side-missions are addictive, and the storyline, i have to say, is truely brilliant.
Would go into further details, but i wanna go play it :P
Fat Psp, Bought Day Of Release :D 1.50 > Various Other OFWs > 3.40 > 3.72 > Pandora..=]> 1.50 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.72 M33-4 > 3.90 M33-2 w/ 1.50 kernel
Slim Psp FINALLY 3.71 > Pandora-fied seconds after leaving the box ^-^ > 3.90 M33-2

I can't remember the exact mission number, but it was something like 8-5-6. Definitely somewhere in the 8 category.

It's possible it may work on that firmware, rammm. However, I've heard recommendations to use at least 3.71 m33. You may encounter video playback errors during gameplay with a lower firmware.

I haven't played this in a while, I've completely forgotten. Try doing what Moogies thinks. Its a hidden materia when i found it, might be different from yours.
Or the materia is made with materia fusion.
If you have any questions just ask me.

It's definitely not made with fusion. Summon materia are not "materia" in CC, they're items. So you definitely couldn't fuse a Summon.

Judging from all the other summon-rewarding missions, I'd say 8-5-6 will see you actually fighting the creature, instead of just 'finding' the materia on the ground. I'm still waiting to unbrick my Slim, otherwise I'd go look myself. :]

I never get any materia from fighting the summons. I just got it from the first summon, that flaming centaur (forgot his name). The rest, i find it around the town.

Well, you're right, you get Phoenix from Nibelheim and Odin from somewhere else I don't remember... but Bahamut, Ifrit and Bahamut-FURY are won after facing them in battle (either as part of the story or via missions).
Bah, I wish I could play! :( I got an email today from DealExtreme to say they're finally shipping my USB card reader, so hopefully I can get a Pandora kit made up next week and get back to playing...

Trust me, you'll be thankful for that after you start your New Game+ on Hard mode.
Hard mode in this game is, for a change, actually HARD. :O

What bugs me the most about FFVII:CC is the happy-go-lucky nature of the characters within the story. In FFVII the story was gritty and the characters were realistic and brash. In this they are sappy and over the top in everything from their emotions to their physical motions. It feels more like Kingdom Hearts than FFVII.

I think that too. Their facial expressions are very KH, almost Disney. That's the one thing I don't like about it.
The undubbed version of the game makes it easier to bear, though. Squeenix needs to fire their English localization team.

You can't play as Cloud, no. I think it would have been nice if Cloud could join you in battles and stuff. But I suppose, as a lowly grunt, his superiors wouldn't let him go running off to fight with a SOLDIER...
Cloud looks so cute as a 16 yr old though. I love him! ^^
