Well my friend gave me his old PAL Xbox (he's been playing with an NTSC one) which no longer works. Determined to fix it for him I relieved him of his black and green paperweight and decided to try to fix it.

Before I start I should say that I HAVE read the stickies, used the search function and even Google, and my thread here is purely to ask if I'm on the right track.

The symptoms are: When I turn on the Xbox it will try to boot twice, then boot a third time and the front LED will flash green and red. No error messages or anything come up on the screen.

I need to stress this point: This is a totally unmodded Xbox. It was only opened once when my friend tried to poke it to get it working again. So there are no mod chips and no soft modding has been attempted.

So after a bit of research I've come to the following conclusion: That the Xbox has a corrupt eeprom (whatever that is). Tomorrow I'll get around to making an eeprom reader/writer according to this website: http://mail.exis.net/blogs/dirkus/item_77.htm. I just wanted to confirm that I was on the right track.

Thanks for the help!
