my ? is how do i properly utilize having two processors in my cpu is there something i can do like change settings or is them being there all i need

are you saying that you have a dual socket motherboard with 2 Pentium 4s installed or a dual core Pentium? if you upgraded to a daul core to make windows recondnise it you could reinstall windows or you will have to edit some files.

If Windows XP does not detect dual or multi-core processor automatically, try changing the Computer's device driver first.

Just go to Device Manger and change the driver for Computer from "Uniprocessor" to "Multiprocessor". Most likely "ACPI Multiprocessor PC".

If that still does not work, then you will need to re-install the OS.

i think his MB has two sockets cause they are P4s. Old server board.

in the device manager it says to intel pp4's above one another so im guessing it would be a dual socketed mb...oh and another thing i recently stumbled upon an intel celeron d....possible to replace on of my p4's??
