I've noticed something with my PS2 Slimline while running PSX backups.

The laser barely ever moves, and the CD spins much slower than PS2 games do. I am guessing this is because the PS2 does not need to put in much effort to run a PSX game? And if this is so, is it safe to conclude that PSX games and backups put less wear and tear on the laser than PS2 backups do?
