I am now getting an error message as follows when I try to play ripped movies within Ifoedit before burning:

"The videocoder doesn't produce close caption data"
Then it crashes.

Previously it was working no problems and I have successfully backed up and split many discs.

My system is Athlon 1.7 Ghz XP Home and altho I know Ifoedit is said not to work with XP for me it has been fantastic until now.

The only thing that has happened since I had a fully working system is that I have upgraded and bought VOB Instant CD/DVD from 6.4 demo to 6.5 full product and in uninstalling 6.4 said yes to some ASPI dll's to be removed. Could this be my problem?

Firstly I think your problem is with XP, but you said that it WAS working, so I would first make sure that you have aspi dlls on your system, you can get aspi checker and dll's from adaptec.com and do a site search. Second thing to try is make sure that you have ripped ALL ifo,vob files.

I have definitely ripped all the files and have produced the split discs of 3 movies complete with extras and all fully working even though the Ifoedit DVD player will not play any movies any more.

As Derrows guides are so good and I'm still getting movies that work its not a major problem.

But I did still like to see them play in Ifoedit to reassure me I wasn't about to burn some expensive coasters and it is also the best way to get the title sets for keeping all the menus.

I would just like to know why it stopped working. I've joined Doom's Ifoedit forum so that I can ask the man himself but you have to have a 5 day cooling off period before you can post! so I'll just have to be patient.

Can anyone answer when ripping should you select automatic mode or ASPI?

Hi Mozzer.

I had the same problem, managed to get rid of it by removing the last installed program on my system which was a trial version of 'Instant CD/DVD V6.5'. When it starts to uninstall don't let it remove the aspi.dll etc.

Spot on DVD2u thats exactly when it started and unfortunately I said yes to some of them. since then I have loaded forceaspi latest version but no luck. I'm going to try and find trial Instant DVD/CD and reinstall it and hopefully get bacak the old aspi driver.
Cheers

I cannot get hold of VOB version 6.4 now.
Anyway to recover old aspi files back once removed?

Hi Mozzer

Have you tried downloading the latest Adaptec ASPI V4.71 drivers .

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?sess=no&cat=%2fProduct%2fASPI-4.70&prodkey=Windows+ASPI+Package

Hope this link works OK.

Yes I've done Adaptec 4.71 no joy and then the latest forceaspi which is highly rated and recommended by many sites still no joy. I think I actually need older ASPI dll's not newer

I'll try uninstalling Instant CD/DVD 6.5 full version but I rely on it for may video burns as it seems to burn when Primo won't and always gives me working backups of videos so I find it the best programme for video work but useless for games with a Pioneer 104. It was removing the 6.4 trial version that I did the damage.
