Not sure where I should put this thread so I stuck it here.
I have an LG GGW-H20L Blu Ray/HD DVD player in my home theater PC along with an ATI 2400 HD PRO PciE video card using an HDMI cable to run to my 40" Sony LCD TV.
I am using Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra which is the software that came with my DVD player.
Now the problem.....
When I use the clone mode in Catalyst Control Center the HD movie I am watching freezes up. I have contacted both ATI and Cyberlink with this problem and have not heard back from either one of them.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of any fixes.
Also, does anyone know of any other software programs for playing HD DVD's on a computer?
Thanks.

As for an update cyberlink just emailed me and told me they know of the issue with using the clone mode and are working on it.
Other than that if anyone knows of any other software that can play Hi Def DVD's I would greatly appreciate it if you post them.
Thanks.

I have an Asus A7K laptop. I use clone mode all the time with media center or media player and have no issues at all.

Clone mode will also split the capability of your gfx card in two therefore reducing performance.
Maybe you should consider switching to "Single Display" when watching HD video.

What I have found that works best for me is to extend my desktop in Catalyst Control Center, move the Cyberlink program over to the extended part which is then on my tv screen, maximize it and watch it that way.
No more screen freezing up and the picture quality looks great.
Thanks to all for your help.

one question for you, since I might get a Blu-ray drive myself.
When you say you tried Clone Mode, are both your displays HDCP compliant?
I have a 17" monitor and a 32" Toshiba LCD, The monitor over VGA, The Toshiba over DVI to HDMI.
Some HD sample files I have tried look very good but with a Blu-Ray movie I suspect I might get a HDCP "handshake" issue with the 17" monitor (in Clone mode) but if I choose single display on the TOSH, then I reckon it'l be OK.
What are your experiances?

Actualy I don't think my computer monitor is HDCP compliant. It is an older CRT monitor but I haven't had any issues in regards to it not being HDCP compliant.
I was having problems with clone mode because the Cyberlink program seems to be uncompatable using clone mode, or at least that is what they told me.
Like I said using the extended display option in my ATI Catalyst Control Center works great.
It's a work around I can deal with. :)

I'm also using the extended desktop mode in Catalyst Control Center to watch Blu-Ray disks with PowerDVD 8 Ultra and that works great.

Anyway, does anybody know how to define that PowerDVD always displays in my second display, not in my main display?
