usb corrupting transfered files(vista)

hey all.
long time reader, first time poster.
as my title says, i picked up an 8gb flash drive to transfer files with. when i drag the files from my hard drive to the thumb drive, all works just fine, no error messages pop up or anything. it looks like all is well. but when i got to look at these files on the flash drive, they're corrupted. either the video won't play, or the audio or even jpegs won't show. anything i put on this thing completely corrupts.
the source files are just fine, they play/view fine from my hard drive.
i would like to give a brand name, but i honestly don't know. it's generic, doesn't have any sort of brand on the package.
before i end up returning it i figured i'd see if any people here have encountered something simular and can offer up a solution.

1st time hearing of this. Have you tried to just right click it and then send to the usb drive?

i haven't tried the "send to" thing.
i'll give that a try.
but yeah, i did format it to FAT32. i even went through the My Computer>Manage to do the format.
the only other thing i can think of is that it's a hacked thumb drive. saying it's an 8gig, but really only being 1 or less.
i bought it off ebay and only recently heard about this scam.
let my mistake be everyone else's lesson, only buy action figures and back issues of playboy on ebay.
