Set to 256k is connection type. Do you use a router, firewall, is your ISP throttling you: http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Bad_ISPs is UPnP off, do you get a green light at the speed guide port check? Use a port over 10,000 that isn't the default and run your speed test a few times at various times, if you're on Cable, it may fluctuate. Edit: and use Protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674

hi thanks for the reply

im an aol user, that wasnt on the list so i think im ok

the light previously was green, now red, iv followed the guide and chose to forward port 30001, set up static IP, added it to my netgear router, and the light is now green again

set the speed to xx/256k

windows firewall isnt on, mcafee set to "allow full access"

protocol encription is on

speed test

download - 1849
upload - 217

its been on this morning and the highest it got was 20kB/s

could it have something to do with the upload / download rates?

It is hard to tell as it could be the individual torrent.
You appear to have everything set up correctly.
You have the green light and encryption enabled.
The 256k setting in uTorrent will set your upload cap at 22kBs, which is about right for your 237kbs and 217kbs speed test results.

As a test of your download speed in uTorrent under your setup you could try KNOPPIX.
You should see it climb up to your max speed very quickly.
It is not necessary to download the whole file, just let it run for a few minutes to see what down speed you get.
It should get close to your max speed (around 220kBs)

It is legal and free. http://www.knoppix.net/
