Hi all,
Got a chubby PS2 with HDAdvance. I use it to load up Launch.elf which then gives me access to Media Players so i can play DivX files. I now have a problem and hope my setup can help me sort it.
Currently I have FFVIII which is scratched, so im trying to boot a backup of it but dont know how. I tried loading up the original into PS2 browser, and using a card swap trick to put in my backup. But all that happens is when i click the Disc on the browser, it just reloads the same page (i.e goes back to the browser).
I know HDAdvance doesnt support PSX games so i cannot install the backup onto the harddrive. However i know there are exploits enabling playing backups PSX games on a PS2 but im just wondering, with my setup what is the best way forward?
I should be able to transfer and load any .elf files and have the original FFVIII disc which loads fine but gets stuck during a cutscene.
Depends upon what version PS2 you have if you can play PS1 backups using an exploit.
If you have a V9 you can do the following.
* launch Ule 4.12
* set "disc control ON" in the settings
* let uLaunchElf STOP the your triggerdisc in the drive
* use a slide tool or fliptop for swapping your triggerdisc for
the backup
* go to "filebrowser=>MISC=>PS2Browser"
* You'll be redirected to the standard PS2 browser in which you'll
see the "PSx cd" icon.
* Select it, play your backup!
1. Boot up your ps1 gameshark and choose your codes if you feel like cheating.
2. on the swap disc screen (the one where it says press X to continue), don't press eject, you want to use your slide card (or flip top if you have one) to remove the disc.
3. Put your backup on the disc tray and manually shut the drive (or close your flip top)
4. Press X and enjoy the game.
Otherwise you would need Breaker pro to boot PS1 backups, or a modchip.
