barryrock- I have'nt used Hp DRives since My early CD burning Days and Their burners Were Pretty Good Back then CD burners ! But I have tried Their Lightscribe Disc as you have and could'nt get them to work( Burn/Print a lightscribe image on the label side ) I rerturned them & Got Verbatims Problem solved !!!
saugmon- Maybe I should Just change my Name to the VERB-INATOR lol!!! Regardless To quote Momma Celeste of Pizza Fame " Never Use Cheap stuff Never !!!"
Verbatim, TDK, Sony, Memorex they all work good. But with HP the lightscribe is hopeless. I have a Samsung drive and I am very happy with my drive. It does a great job, until I use HP media.
If you buy HP lightscribe media don't forget a big marker pen to label the disk with.
Iwas given a spindle of HP Lightscribe media, and have used them to give away to my "friends"
with a Lite-On burner, the disk burn okay, lightscribe label is okay, but they still are CMC-Mag disks which mean that in a few months they will be unreadable. I've kept one for control purposes, will report back in a few months to let you know how it hangs on.
Buy Verbatim people, buy Verbatim!
I was checking out the worthless blank media that wallyworld had. HP's out of the wazoo. Imation, Cmag Maxells-some ritek maxells, and Ricoh memorex.
I haven't bought LS media for a while, but the newer stuff you may have to update your LS program. Something about 2.0 on the older media and 2.1 with the newer media. I use inkjet printable now for awesome covers.
BIGTOX-erminator: I had to add that in after seeing that the Sherminator(American Pie) was killed in "The Mist". The sherminator played the bag boy. LOL!!!! A very good flick.
My son gave me a HP LS pack of 20 for X-mas. I opened them today. The first 5 out of the pack would not work on the LS. I have some new TDKs that worked great. I have some Memorex here that work good. HP is junk.
