What type media are you using?
Can you post the ImgBurn log?

In ImgBurn go to help and then ImgBurn log. Open that file. Copy and paste the information inside that file.
The MID is the manufacturer's ID. That will tell us who made the discs. The name on the lable means nothing. It's the MID that's important. Different manufacturers use different dyes in the making of the discs. Buyers have their names put on the disc.

That's not the one. That's what you get when you open ImgBurn and close it. Post the last burn.

A full log of your next burn will do. This way we can see all the information on your burner, disc and other information that can help.

That one seemed to go ok though you should consider better media.
Disc ID: MCC-004-00 Is this Memorex or Philips brand?
Try some Verbatim or Yaiyo Yuden. If you can't find them in stores you can get them online or at least get some Sony.
Adding some more memory would also be a great help.
I 14:06:32 Write Speed: MAX
Yet you only burned at 2.4.
Check your DMA. It should be on.

how do u determine what is a good dvd type and is there a difference between using dvd+r and -r

The brands I mentioned are top of the line. When you shop, look for the user ratings to determine what you want. -R or +R shouldn't matter. With older burners and players it used to matter but now both should give you good quality burns. ImgBurn can change the booktype of your +R media to DVD-ROM which is compatible with all players.

What makes one better than the other is the dye that the manufacturers use. Using the crap media is just taking a chance. Some may burn ok and some may not. The crap media is also known for not holding up to time which means 2 years from now, the discs that once played may not be playable.
The finalize is automatic.

Have you tried changing your brand of discs to something better? It could be that this brand is incompatable with your drive. Some brands work better than others.

Gm dialysis1, I bought Verbatim dvds but still should it take an hour to copy the movie to my pc from the original movie, when i use my daughter's pc the whole process is half the time and she only has 1 gig of mem also. sometimes i get an error message sayin something about lock volume and i think something about access to memory location i wrote it down somewhere but i would have to look for it if u need to know exactly
