Is my upload speed slow?

I'm using utorrent. I have cable. When I try speed test I get varying results with up speed. Most seem to put my upspeed between 600-800 kBps while others say 1400, 1,600 and 1,700 kBps. In realworld my torrent download speed max out at 750 kBps. Seeds don't get past 40 kBps even with 0 unlimited upspeedspeed selected and no active downloads. Is it normal to have 750 kBps download speed and only 40 kbps max upload speed? It's making it very hard to keep a good torrent ratio.

It is not unusual. I have 775kBs down and 44kBs up (with Comcast).

Wow, this means in order to use such clients such as hdscene.org that demand a good ratio, I have to spend 20x more time seeding only, than time I spend downloading. This seems crazy to me.

It seems after only a handful of hours downloading, I need to keep my pc in seed only mode for 5 days and night strait to keep from being banned. Ouch

I know the feeling.
When cable companies were setting up their systems there was no great demand for upload speed from consumers as peer to peer was not in use.

Within the next few years, I think we will see increased upload capacity being built in, as the Verizon FIOS is starting.

I switched from Utorrent To Bitcomet and my download increased from 700 to 850kB/s and my upload from 65kB/s To 130kB/s. I also installed a Linksys WRT54GL router.
