Hey Guys Need Some Help To See If These Parts Are Compatible

My Specs:

MSI P6N SLI Platinum

Intel Core 2 Duo Quad

XFX Geforce 8800 GT 512MB

CRUCIAL Ballistix (2x2GB)

SEAGATE 250GB SATA

Antec 900 PC Case

ANTEC tp3-650 Truepower Trio

ARCTIC Silver 5

THERMALTAKE Max Orb

Windows Vista Ultimate(32 or 64 bit, Sourt of need help on deciding.)

Any Suggestions Are Appreciated. Thanks In Advance

As for the OS, I usually recommend people stick to XP unless they have to use Vista, as PCs run significantly better with XP.
If you have to use Vista, go with 32-bit, because 64-bit will certainly cause you grief at some stage.
Note that 32-bit operating systems however will only see 3.5GB of RAM. I wouldn't worry about this too much as of yet, because you will find it very difficult to use 3GB of RAM.

I'd personally avoid using SLI. Like many you're using one graphics card, and thinking of getting another later. Nobody ever bothers, by the time you get round to getting the second card, there'll be a single card that will beat the pair hands down, if you can even still buy the 9600 (remember, SLI needs both cards to be identical). Additionally, nvidia chipsets are compulsary for SLI and they don't perform anywhere near as well as Intel chipsets. Realistically, you're better off with the board I posted and sticking with one graphics card.

ya your right, whats the point of buying two cards now when they'll beccome obselete in a year, and can i ask you one more question. Will the Artic Cooler Freezer 7 work with any socket 775 chip, because the quad isnt listed on the compatiblity list, but Socket 775 is

The Freezer 7 Pro will cool the Q6600 perfectly adequately at stock, but it might get a bit warm if you overclock. I'd recommend using something like a Thermalright Ultra-120A with a Scythe SFF21E fan on it. I use this setup (albeit with an LED version of the same fan) and even when the fan is running at a mere 700rpm (the 21E is normally 1200 and it's near silent even then) I get idle temps of 27C and load of 43C on my CPU, which although is only a duo, is overclocked from 1.8Ghz to 3.15Ghz. Using the same settings with the freezer 7 Pro, I had to use the noisy full speed (2700rpm) to get 47C under load.

As far as SLI goes, for people willing to spend big bucks on a PC, it's still a viable option, but for those who don't have money to burn, realistically you're far better off using a single card.

if your going down the 4GB route go for vista 64 bit.

its a much more stable and secure OS then XP with its SP1.

just check if anything you use (software hardware) comes with a 64bit driver)

i remember when i got sp1 for xp, it was still crap vs my 98SE, always giving me BSOD, i think vista this time round has done wonders vs XPs starts.

More secure? Yes. More stable? no. XP is perfectly stable, and it runs a damn sight better. I'm not an anti-Vista protester, but for the best performance, XP is really where you want to be. Also bear in mind that XP gives you as much memory as 64-bit Vista with 4GB. XP only lets you have 3.5, Vista wastes 500MB unnecessarily.

viste is more efficent with memory(it uses more, but with superfetch its uses it better then XP), and memory is there to be used up....or was it there to be looked at?

and yes more stable.

im my few months of using vista, (still no sp1 for me) i have not even had one BSOD.

when i had XP from 2001 to 2004 (till i got sp2) it was a nightmare of BSODs any time i installed something.

granted i was younger then, i knew how to install something so i dooubt it was that.

xp wont go over 3.XX GB in memory(there fore if you have 4GB 512mb will go to ur gfx, or however much ur gfx uses, 32/64 to the sound card if you have one, etc), as CPUs that use a 32 bit OS cannot adress more than 4GB memory. and 64bit XP was a shamble. the 64 bit vista has drivers for everything. for a company to have signed drivers (WHQL) from MS for vista they have to have a 64bit com padre to the 32 bit. it wasnt like this in XP.

I haven't had a BSOD in months on my proper PC. It only happens if you mess something up or have crappy hardware (Ahem, P5N-E SLI).
64-bit XP was a bit suck, but Superfetch is limited in its use, and doesn't answer for the resource whore of Vista.

It's there to be used, not wasted. I can't use more than 2.7GB in XP no matter what I run at once (unless I play TF2 and STALKER at the same time lol).

Not really a realistic situation, and believe it or not Crysis uses less memory than stalker. The most I've managed with Crysis is 2.2GB.

2560x1600 max setings, no AA because STALKER's AA and Crysis' AA is rubbish. AA doesn't really use any more system RAM though, it just whores video RAM. That's not really a realistic test though, because Crysis isn't playable at those settings. At the level where it is playable it probably uses a lot less RAM anyway.
