Ok this might come off as a strange question but I'm hoping I can get a definite answer here.

I recently downloaded GTA SA and burned it. All was well and good but I noticed after driving around that the game was missing a lot of detail in the scenery which would randomly "pop up" and load. I know GTA games suffer from poor draw distances in general but this really seemed out of the ordinary and much more than I remember when playing a legit copy. (there were times when I was standing next to a building watching it for a many seconds only to suddenly see the windows and detail on it)

Ok now to my question.

I burned on a memorex (don't kill me!) dvd-r. Is it possible that this media is to blame for terrible pop up? I've burned different speeds with same results. I know the media itself is not suppose to be great quality... but I just assumed that meant a copy would potentially not work or crap out sooner... but does it affect the loading as well?

Anyone else with this game care to share your experience and input?

Also... I deleted the iso after I burned it.... so if I were to acquire better media and made a copy off my memorex... would the new copy still be suffering from the terribly loading pop ups or can I still potentially make a better copy on the better media? Does that make sense? :P

Thanks!

media can be the culprit, as it can cause strain on the laser if the dye is poor quality. poor quality dye will make the laser work harder to read the disc.

best thing to do is either rip the game from an original disc, or redownload the iso.

when i run san andreas off my hdd, everything loads right away. there are some offsync fmv's and few draw distance problems in fmv's, but that's expected as most games were not meant to be played off a hdd.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

Ok poor media is totally reasonable.

But would it be reasonable to assume that if I just make on iso off the poor media and then burn it onto the higher quality media, then I won't have any trouble or is that iso "tainted" so to speak due to the poor media and would simply transfer over the same poor loading problems with the environment regardless of being on a higher quality media.

Any thoughts on that?
