I'm wanting to screen-record some Starcraft gameplay, but the game runs only in full-screen and there's no way to change it to window mode. the game's overlayed (as is with most PC games running in full-screen) and any normal screen recorders only record a black screen. But I have heard about FRAPS being a good overlay screen recorder. I set it up and did a few test runs and everything is ok, except the game runs horribly choppy and it appears just as choppy in the video. It's obvious FRAPS is processing an uncompressed file as it records, which is a horrible setting for recording an entire screen. The game runs at 640x480. I've seen posts about getting frame rates as high as 25 and 30fps, but I don't know how they do it. My system is more than capable of processing encoded video while running Starcraft.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm guessing since recorded gameplay videos on the internet are flawless and there's no "www.fraps.com" at the top of my videos that I'm using a different, possibly worse version of FRAPS?
