Quote:Support for One Bit Audio format, such as SuperAudio CD's DSD (Direct Stream Digital), changes to offer better support for current and future PCs with HDMI outputs, including: availability of the widely-used HDMI Type A connector for PC sources and displays with full support for PC video formats, ability for PC sources to use their native RGB color space while retaining the option to support the YCbCr CE color space, requirement for HDMI 1.2 and later displays to support future low-voltage (i.e., AC-coupled) sources, such as those based on PCI Express I/O technology.
HDMI 1.3
Quote: * Higher speed: HDMI 1.3 increases its single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps) to support the demands of future HD display devices, such as higher resolutions, Deep Color and high frame rates. In addition, built into the HDMI 1.3 specification is the technical foundation that will let future versions of HDMI reach significantly higher speeds.
* Deep Color: HDMI 1.3 supports 10-bit, 12-bit and 16-bit (RGB or YCbCr) color depths, up from the 8-bit depths in previous versions of the HDMI specification, for stunning rendering of over one billion colors in unprecedented detail.
* Broader color space: HDMI 1.3 adds support for ?x.v.Color?? (which is the consumer name describing the IEC 61966-2-4 xvYCC color standard), which removes current color space limitations and enables the display of any color viewable by the human eye.
* New mini connector: With small portable devices such as HD camcorders and still cameras demanding seamless connectivity to HDTVs, HDMI 1.3 offers a new, smaller form factor connector option.
* Lip Sync: Because consumer electronics devices are using increasingly complex digital signal processing to enhance the clarity and detail of the content, synchronization of video and audio in user devices has become a greater challenge and could potentially require complex end-user adjustments. HDMI 1.3 incorporates automatic audio synching capabilities that allows devices to perform this synchronization automatically with total accuracy.
* New HD lossless audio formats: In addition to HDMI?s current ability to support high-bandwidth uncompressed digital audio and all currently-available compressed formats (such as Dolby® Digital and DTS®), HDMI 1.3 adds additional support for new lossless compressed digital audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio?.
HDMI 1.3 has a higher single link bandwidth. I would just get the latest and greatest.
* Single-cable digital audio/video connection with a maximumbitrate of 4.9Gbps. Supports up to 165Mpixels/sec video (1080p60Hz or UXGA) and 8-channel/192kHz/24-bit audio.
[edit] HDMI 1.1
Released May 2004.
* Added support for DVD Audio.
[edit] HDMI 1.2
Released August 2005.
* Added support for One Bit Audio, used on Super Audio CDs, up to 8 channels.
* Availability of HDMI Type A connector for PC sources.
* Ability for PC sources to use native RGB color-space while retaining the option to support the YCbCr CE color space.
* Requirement for HDMI 1.2 and later displays to support low-voltage sources.
[edit] HDMI 1.2a
Released December 2005.
* Fully specifies Consumer Electronic Control (CEC) features, command sets, and CEC compliance tests.
[edit] HDMI 1.3
Released 22 June 2006.[7] [8]
* Increases single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps)
* Optionally supports 30-bit, 36-bit, and 48-bit xvYCC with Deep Color or over one billion colors, up from 24-bit sRGB or YCbCr in previous versions.
* Incorporates automatic audio syncing (lip sync) capability.
* Supports output of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio streams for external decoding by AV receivers.[9] TrueHD and DTS-HD are lossless audio codec formats used on HD DVDs and Blu-ray Discs. If the disc player can decode these streams into uncompressed audio, then HDMI 1.3 is not necessary, as all versions of HDMI can transport uncompressed audio.
* Availability of a new mini connector for devices such as camcorders.[10]
* The SonyPlayStation 3 is the first product available on consumer market with HDMI 1.3.[11]
* Epson has released the EMP-TW1000 as the first display supporting 30-bit deep color.[12]
[edit] HDMI 1.3a
Released 10 November 2006.[13]
* Cable and Sink modifications for Type C
* Source termination recommendation
* Removed undershoot and maximum rise/fall time limits.
* CEC capacitance limits changed
* RGB video quantization range clarification
* CEC commands for timer control brought back in an altered form, audio control commands added.
* Concurrently released compliance test specification included.
You're right man, I'm addicted to aD! I can't get enough. I leave for lunch and about 10 minutes before I'm about to get back, I start getten the shakes.

LOL true story since im addicted to the internet every time the midterms come around i open my PC up and snap the wireless card in half to prevent my self from going online LOL there only ten buck and its worth it!
.....you get the jist...its kinda like USB 1.0 to USB 2.0 although the changes weren't as drastic in HDMI as they were in USB:)
the changes are like little tweaks....kinda like with Ethernet the change from RJ-45 to RJ-49 ...just little changes that might not make a whole big difference but of course contribute none the less:)
Funny. There are some days, even at home/office, where I have a ton of work to do - first thing I do in the morning is still do the forum thing... we need a VFA - Video Forums Anonymous.
