All of a sudden I can't write ISO- or IMG-files. I'm using DVD Decrypter (also tried Alcohol 120% and ImgBurn). I get a message saying I/O Error!

Device: [1:1:0] HP DVD Writer 200j 1.72 (E:) (ATA)

ScsiStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 20 00
Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors: 0 - 31

Sense Area: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0C 00 00 00 00 30 05 00 00 00 00 96 00
Interpretation: Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

This started in the middle of a bulkpack of Platinum DVD+R 16xSpeed. I've used them for ages and never had any problems with them before (probably burnt somewhere around 800 discs).

Why does this happen now? What's wrong? Incompatible Format, is that the disc or my burner?

You don't give much information but that is a pretty old burner.
Have you tried some different media brands?

Not tried any other media brands yet, doing it today. What surprised me was that this happened in the middle of pack, like 20 discs down. The first ones was no problem. What kind of info do you need? I know it's an old burner. What's the lifespan for a burner? My guess is that this one has burned somewhere around 3000 discs.

If you could open the ImgBurn.log file and post the information on your last burn, there's a lot of information there.
A new burner is something to consider. They are very cheap. For less than $30 you can get a nice one.

Now I've tried another media brand and it worked just fine, no problem at all...

I 09:51:28 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started!
I 09:51:28 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2)
I 09:51:28 Total Physical Memory: 523 760 KB - Available: 104 872 KB
W 09:51:28 Drive G:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB in size.
I 09:51:29 Initialising SPTI...
I 09:51:29 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
I 09:51:29 Found 2 DVD-ROMs and 1 DVD+RW!

This is the log for when I open up ImgBurn. What does that Drive G:\(FAT32) does not support... mean? Drive G: is my external harddrive.

That's an old burner. Try slowing down the write speed and use better media. That old burner is having a hard time with newer media. It doesn't read these discs correctly. Buy some good 8X media and burn at 6X. Being that the burner is old you should consider a new one. Their cheap.
