There are excellent movies out there like "Hitman." However some of the violence, nudity and language can get rough. I rip all my movies using DVD Fab Platinum 4. If the movie is family friendly I burn it right away. If it's not, I've been storing them as iso files onto my hard drive to burn later. Is there software that would allow me to either cut out just the audio or perhaps a whole nude seen so my kids could watch a movie with me? DVD Fab also lets me store it as VOB files if I need to. I just want to be able to "clean up" some of my own movies then burn them back to disc as edited. I basically want to do what Clean Flicks used to do before the government told them they couldn't anymore.

Try dvd shrink in reauthor mode with the beginning and ending cursors to crate chapters and store in HDD. Creat a new edited movie with dvd flick or Nero. Lots of work.

2) just have the wee ones use the pillow over the eyes and plug the ears. Much easier IMHO

I have nero ultra 6. I don't mind doing the work but I don't recall dvd shrink having the ability to go in and manually edit all the little bits and parts of video and audio that I don't want in my movies. Also, when I rip the DVD's what format should i rip them to in order to edit them? iso, udf, or vob files?

I prefer vob files

Is there anyone who has done this kind of editing that could give me a step by step breakdown of how to do it?

Theres only one program that I have used to edit objectionable scenes in dvd movies.

The program is videoredo plus. It's frame accurate and it doesn't reencode the video. The finished output is as good as the original. You don't have to convert to mpegs first, the program will edit the vob's directly. Also the program is quick, after you edit a vob, it takes less than 5 minutes to save it.

The demo of videoredo plus can actually edit a dvd movie. (it only lets you save a max of 30 minutes at a time- a typical vob is usually less than 30 minutes. Edit each vob than put them back in the VIDEO_TS folder. The finished DVD is very watchable.
