Morning guys....

New member here to the forum, but have been a lurker for quite some time. I am looking to buy a Blu-Ray burner, but can't decide which one to get. The ones I know of are made by LG. Question is what is the biggest difference between the 399 and the 299 burners? I couldn't tell why one was 100 bucks more than the other. Those are the two I am looking at, but I am open for any recommendations from anyone who has used one. Thanks!

Anyone? Surely someone here has a Blu-Ray burner or can suggest a good one they have used. Thanks to anyone that can respond.

The difference is that the one for $299 is a blu-ray and hd dvd reader and only burns dvd-r's, and the more expensive one adds blu-ray burning.

I have the LG GGW-H20L ($399 retail) and its working great so far. I dont know where your are at but you can get this drive for around $300 or under now. Nowdirect.com is probably the cheapest but is a few weeks out. I have never ordered anything from them so I dont know how good they are, but that is cheap.

I just checked on Ebay and there is an LG reseller selling the LG GGW-H20L for 285 brand new in the box with free shipping. I don't think I can do much better than that.

Also what Blu-Ray disc's are you using? Are you using the 25 or 50 gig discs to back up your movies and stuff? Do you have a good place to buy them at a good price?

Thanks again for your response!

Are you able to fit a full Blu-Ray movie onto the 25 gig version of a Blu-Ray disc? That was one other thing I needed to figure out and that was what size are most of these Blu-Ray movies. I was not sure if I could get them onto the 25 gig or not. I don't want to have the hassle of shrinking the quality of the movie to make it fit on the 25 gig.
