I was wondering if I have to have a chip to mod my slim ps2. I was also wondering how to mod because I am not quite sure. Do I have to buy some fancy expensive program and an expensive chip? I am wondering for Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. So I can do things like get CJ starsky and huch clothes and get a pontiac G6, ETC.

The chip is not the only mod available (though it is the most reliable). There is Swapmagic, The Independence Exploit(it won't work on a slim though), Action Replay, and others.

I don't think you can do those kinds of mods on the PS2 version of the game, though you can on the PC version.

Memor32 is a new player in the mod scene. It is just a 32MB memory card with a mini USB port to allow backing up of save files.

These are the features mentioned on the site
* Enhance your game experience with a full 32 MB Memory card, store all your savegames on one memory!
* Load and save PS2 savegames to and from any PC.
* Share and exchange your savegames with friends and on our community forum!

Alone Memor32 will not allow you to play backups. You must have the Memento FW installed to do so.

Here is an in depth review of Memor32.

Price wise Memor32 goes for about $55.

And also does memor32 let you mod your saves to get that special car, gun, clothes, and places?

It looks to me like you need to go the Memento website and download the FW for your region.

-connect Memor32 to your comp
-run the windows based patcher that you got from the website (wait for about 1 1\2 min)
-now your Memor32 is a full fledged soft mod.

Then you basically just need to rip games, patch them with the supplied patcher, and burn them. Here is a guide for doing just that. You won't need to buy anything (other than the black media) if you just want to do the basics.

Everything else is extra, like if you want to play off an IDE HD, run homebrew through DEV modes, etc. Some of this will cost money.

I messed up, it should be blank media. Homebrew is just homemade programs, made by non-professional programmers usually. They can come in the form of emulators, organizational tools, mini games, etc.

Before you go on any further, learn to use the edit feature. Other wise the mods will warn you or close this thread. Above your post in the top right corner there is a little paper with a pencil on it. Click on that, then you can edit your post and add stuff that way.

Like I said I am pretty sure you can only do those kinds of mods on the PC version of the game.

Blank media = empty discs in general (CD/DVD/BL/HDDVD/etc). So in your case yes. DVD-R's are going to be your best option.

Swapmagic is really a great option. You burn your games using low speeds and quality media (no patching required). Then you just load up swapmagic, swap your discs, and your ready to play.

I highly doubt you will find anywhere that will sell Swapmagic to you locally. Mainly because of what it can be used for.
Buying off the internet is not so bad, just make sure you buy from reliable sites. Ask around, read reviews at resellerratings.com, and make sure their site offers good encryption.
