WIN XP Media Center Edition

My machine is an HP with windows xp Media Center Edition.
My HD included the recovery program, no windows disk was included when machine was purchased.

Does this recovery include windows as originally installed?

If so, can I copy this to a new HD that I am installing for the purpose of using it as an operating system and not necessarally as a recovery program.

Appreciate any comments you may have concerning this subject.
