So I made a backup of a ps2 game (Tales of Legendia if that helps)with DVD Decrypter, and I have a swap magic version 3.6 and I've got the game running per se, the game plays ok, but the load screens and the time in between events are really long. I was wondering if there is some way to remedy this slow down. This is the first backup I've gotten to work and am fairly new the backup-ps2-games-world. This has probably been answered somewhere else but I haven't found the answer to my problem. I hope someone out there can help me so that I don't screw up any other backups that I make in the future.

I used 1x because thats what one guide said but I've read that 8x or 12x works to.

Ok, I did 8x and there is alot less slowdown, some VERy minor things but on the whole it works great.

So I've got a better backup but it's not perfect like some people seem to have, I was wondering if there are some options I can change or if Alcohol 120% is better at this, because the slow loading time seemed to have turned into very slow loading times, like 3-4 minutes, I need to tweak this more and don't know where to start.

Don't know if it will make much of a difference but try using Imgburn instead of Alcohol or DVD Decrypter. In addition to using quality media and low burn speeds as varnull mentioned.

So all of the dvds I burn are slow. I'm starting to think it's the dvds I'm using. I was using up the rest of the dvds I used for burning movies. So I think it's the media. I don't want to import some weird dvds from somewhere. So i was wondering, If I went to Best Buy right now, what dvds would you recommend I get?

Verbatims, definitely would be your best bet. Only draw back is that they are pretty expensive most of the time. Other good quality media would be Taiyo Yuden or Sony brand (media I currently use).

Thanks for the information guys. I will probably buy some of the Verbatims later and then hope for the best. If they don't work well still, I'll either try a different burner, or quit. But I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
