I got the Matrix infinity chip for my v7 PS2 last week. The chip's firmware has already been updated to v1.93.
The PS2 plays PS2 backups perfectly, however it can't play PS1 backups. It boots the game and I actually got to the PS-logo once, but it usually just sends me back to the browser after watching a black screen for 15 seconds.
I use Verbatim cd-r's, and imgburner to burn the backups. I use a Samsung cd/dvdw ts-h552b burner. My burner can't burn any slower than 8x, but I read somewhere that that's fine.
So, what am I doing wrong here? The backups work fine in my PS1 emulator.
Could be that particular PS1 game is mod protected and the Matrix Infinity can't get around it.
Follow this tutorial to burn and play PS1 backups.

The matrix auto detects px1 game on boot up,so no problems there putting it into the correct mode
Might just be a simple case of your ps2 not liking the type of disk you are using
If you have another brand at hand, give one of those a try

Thanks! I already patched the mod protected games though. It didn't change anything. So as for now, I've given up hope on ever backing up my PSX games.
