btc dvdrw-1004 not flashing

my version of btc dvdrw-1004 is 38, the latest i think is 47. i tried using http://www.btceurope.nl/english/3-1-4driver_download_dvd_dual.htm and another prog that i cant remember right now but basically it scans your machine shows you your drive then you hit update and it downloads the flash, which turns out to be the exact same as the link here.

so why won't the windows flash utility recognize my drive, when i use the drop down to select my drive there is nothing? the drive is detected in bios and system.
