There have been several threads in this forum about troubles using
burrrn. Imageburn is well respected shareware app in the video community. It now supports audio burns that include FLAC files. I confess I have not down loaded the software yet. I will never try to burn FLAC files to a disk because I do not believe they have any use other than a trusted audio source.

My soapbox...
Scientifically, the highest quality mp3s sound the same as the source. Most humans hear and see in standard ranges the ones that don?t do not see/hear in broader ranges but lesser ranges. That is why humans do not see X-rays. The claim that some people believe they are mutants is not believable to me. The problems arise with mp3s are due to users not using top quality encoders, not using the right settings or just making mistakes. There are infinite ways to screw up an mp3 up but very few ways to make one right.

Since FLAC is lossless, it can't alter the sound. One encoder is as good as another there are no settings to screw up. They are always great! The only way you can get a trashy FLAC is to have some moron convert a lossless format to a FLAC format trying to improve the sound.

I have never been in contact with a FLAC user that has even been able to:
Take a FLAC file convert it to the highest quality mp3 using a quality an encoder like LAME using the settings of either 320 BR or VBR with extreme quality setting using the slowest analysis setting. Then point out what is missing. I know I can easily point out what is lost on a 128 BR mp3 and a source. Instead I get a condescending attitude of, ?I can hear the difference on MY system why can?t you??
I have an insainly extreme audio system and I can't hear the difference. I have good friends that take the other extreme. One refuses to even listen to CDs. He claims to be able to hear the difference between vinyl and a CD. The vinyl does contain much more data. He even paid a few grand for a record washer. He washes his records between playings. Dust in the groves when it is played will degrade a vinyl over time. That is why I captured all my vinyl. He is harmless and I don't try to convert him. If that make him happy... I also say, if FLACs make you happy then by all means use them. With a FLAC, you know you will hear top quality.
